How is Jesus Heals Ministries structured? Where does the funding come from? Jesus Heals Ministries is a foundation that receives tax-free gifts with one goal: To conduct mission and evangelization to the whole world. Counseling and intercessory prayer are part of the purpose. We have a great motto: “The whole gospel to the whole world.”

We started very small on January 2, 1990. We rented an office in the old dairy building, right in the center of Vennesla, Norway. Solveig and a friend of ours, Bjørn. Bjørn and I bought used office equipment in Kristiansand. Gradually, we installed phone lines, and the first computer was purchased. We called the foundation Jesus Heals Ministries. The name was a confession. It stood for an important truth. A friend of mine from Skien had himself created a foundation. Based on his setup, we applied to the County Governor in Vest-Agder to establish a foundation. With small adjustments, the foundation was approved on April 6, 1990.

I had collected a number of names and addresses of people I had previously met at meetings around Norway. Our son Kenneth was (and is) good with computers. He created an address registry. I have always had a knack for writing and attended several journalism courses. In addition, I was a journalist for the newspaper Fosna-Folket from 1979–1981. With this experience in hand, we decided to publish our own magazine. We called it *Legedom*. The first issue was released in December 1990. In 1991, I started the publishing house Legedom. My first book, “When God Performs Miracles,” was published that year. Now I have written 21 books.

All our children helped during the early days – while attending junior high, high school, and later university. They are “born into the foundation.” They all work there now with their spouses, some in Norway and others at our mission fields in Canada. Solveig is a qualified special education teacher. After having worked six years in Canada, we moved back to Norway in 1988. Solveig was employed as a teacher at the school here in Vennesla. In 1997, she quit teaching and started full-time as the administrative leader at our center in Vennesla.

Win/win – we help you, you help us

Intercessory prayer for the sick has become our trademark. It’s what we spend most of our time on – at our center in Vennesla. It is this aspect of the gospel we are most known for – healing and salvation. Running such a mission, which has grown into an international mission organization, is both responsible and exciting. We need at least 1.2 million kroner in turnover each month to operate.

People do not know how much it costs to run this operation. Publishing the magazine Legedom costs about 2.5 million a year. Then there are large postage expenses, insurance, monthly installments on the building, electricity expenses, support for missions in several parts of the world, travel expenses, salary expenses, and much more. To meet our obligations, we have resorted to collections and constantly asked people to support us. If we cannot pay salaries to the employees and what we owe our creditors, we are bankrupt.

The responsibility primarily lies with us who are employed in the foundation. But – I want you, who make use of the offer of intercessory prayer, also to show responsibility. We go to great lengths to help you with intercessory prayer, counseling, and advice. You utilize our experience and expertise, time, and effort. Had you gotten an appointment with a psychologist, doctor, physiotherapist, or chiropractor, it would have cost you a lot. We do not demand money, but we usually take up a collection every time someone calls. Jesus says that “a laborer is worthy of his wages.” To use someone else’s time, effort, and expertise without giving is not fair. But we still demand nothing. Jesus said: “Give, and it will be given to you.” (Luke 6:38) The Bible speaks of giving “the tithe and the holy gifts”.

Continuous support is important

I want to encourage everyone who uses our help to give a gift each time they call, as much as possible. From 1992 to 2018, we were on Teletorget and received support from there. It cost 14 kroner per minute to call us. We ended that arrangement on July 10, 2018. Then we started taking up collections, which is a completely normal practice in all congregations. Every month, we also usually send out SMSs to request support.

For us to manage the monthly expenses, so you have a place to call – or receive intercessory prayer at the center, I would recommend that you support us each month with a mission gift. Some give twice a month. Furthermore: When you have called and received a conversation and intercessory prayer, give a voluntary gift to our bank account, VIPPS, or Donor Phone.

We are two parties who determine the future of Jesus Heals Ministries: We and you. Thanks to everyone who has shown loyalty and love to Jesus Heals Ministries for years. And thanks to all of you who see the responsibility and will continue to give as often as you can. The world has the right to hear the world’s best message – through Jesus Heals Ministries! We will keep going until Jesus returns. If you continue to support us. We stand firm as before without a single “respite.” And remember: I pray every day for our supporters.

Win-win: We help you – you help us. It's a fair arrangement!
