Here are some examples from a long career, 52 years as an evangelist.

Anointing of eyes

When God gives us His anointing, He can do it in different ways. I have seen the anointing go out from me in many different ways. I have looked at people – and they have come to me later and said: “When you looked at me, I was healed.” It just happened without me knowing about it, and it was not planned either. The Bible speaks about spiritual eye salve:

“I advise you to buy from Me ... eye salve to anoint your eyes with, so that you may see.”
Revelation 3:18

Anointing of hands and feet

I have laid hands on many thousands, and many have been healed. It has also happened that some have been healed when I placed my foot over theirs – to those who were flat-footed. Here is an example:

A few years ago, I had a meeting at a place outside Bergen. While I was praying for a couple, a twelve-year-old boy came forward and asked if I could pray for him. He was flat-footed. The boy “disturbed” me in my prayer for the couple I was praying for. But since I like to do original things, I wanted to find out if God could send out His power both through my hands – and feet – at the same time. I said: “Stand with your feet together.” The boy did so. Then I placed one of my feet on top of his for two to three minutes. Then the boy said: “My feet are getting warm.”

When I had finished praying for him and the couple, he went down and sat down. The grandparents and his parents could then see that he walked in a different way. The boy had recently been to an orthopedic specialist. He confirmed that the boy was flat-footed. The orthopedist ordered special insoles that matched his feet. But now the parents had to cancel the insoles because he was healed by me placing my foot over his.

Anointing of the voice

In recent years, many have told me that “there is something about your voice that makes me feel lighter when you talk to me, the pain begins to leave me, I have gotten so much better.” Many have said this to me on the phone. Then I realized it: God can anoint the voice so that it and the words I speak are anointed with God's power. Thus, God can anoint us in different ways.

When Mary, the mother of Jesus, greeted Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist, “the babe leaped in her womb” (Luke 1:41). Mary had just been “overshadowed” by the Holy Spirit and Jesus had been conceived in her womb (Luke 1:35). That power filled her completely. Therefore, the power struck the baby in Elizabeth’s womb so strongly that it could be felt by Elizabeth.

Beside our center in Vennesla, Norway, there is a glass factory. Occasionally, Solveig and I take a walk past it before we start work. Sometimes the workers stand outside to have a smoke before they start work. Once a man stood outside the entrance. I wanted to be polite and blessed him with a “hello!” I lifted my right arm into the air when I greeted him. He responded back with a “hello.” A friend of mine who worked in the factory told my son the following: “The man was suffering from a back disorder. When your father said ‘hello’ to him, God's power touched his back, and he was healed!” God’s power was released when I blessed him with a greeting of faith. Just as Mary did when she met Elizabeth, two women who both became pregnant by a miracle.

Anointing of physical objects

Here can be mentioned anointing cloths that I pray over. But the anointing seems to penetrate books that I have written. The Holy Spirit is called the “Spirit of Faith,” and He loves words that glorify Jesus. The many testimonies in my books are a great “spotlight” on the gospel.

A 73-year-old man had severe angina. He had trouble picking up the mail from the mailbox fifty meters away from the house. The man placed a picture of my hand, which is found in a couple of my books, over his heart before he went to bed in the evening. When he woke up the next morning, he was free from angina and shoveled snow off five roofs on his property! “You are going to die!” called his wife after him. She was wrong. He was completely well! This shows that God glorifies His word, for it says in Mark 16:18 that we shall lay hands on the sick – and God shall heal them.

A woman from the Faroe Islands called and asked for intercession. I prayed for her and sent her an anointing cloth. When she took the letter with the anointing cloth inside, up from the mailbox, she felt a power flowing from the letter, through her arm – and into her knee. The woman was instantly healed before she opened the letter! Power has radiation!

We need an anointed voice

Voice is a very important organ to reach out to people. Every workday, Solveig and I go down to the center to bless many who call. Paul asked the church in Ephesus for help to speak the right words to people:

“And for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel.”
Ephesians 6:19

He asked for intercession so that he could give people an anointed message. I need that every day. I pray: “Lord, bless all of me so that your power flows out to those who suffer in many different ways, both through your anointed word and through an anointed voice, maybe even a prophetic word to people I connect with. Let your anointing also spread to all who read these lines.”
