What a few decades ago was a common mindset in a secular world is no longer a given. The usual Christian mindset has been challenged.
Many have challenged traditional Christian thinking and broken away from biblical absolutes. Therefore, Christians have ended up in a spiritual battle. Invisible spiritual forces have brought darkness over Norway and the West. As John also said:
“We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.”
1 John 5:19
We believe that we can trample God's commandments underfoot without consequences. Some judgments come immediately, while others come later with great catastrophes.
“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness.”
Romans 1:18
People have become victims of satanically inspired thoughts that have flooded the West in recent years. And it only gets worse and worse. In our encounter with people, we should not become angry and behave rudely and discourteously. We need to humble ourselves before God, consecrate ourselves, and be filled with His truth and His mindset – so that we can face the world with a mind dipped in His love. We are called to spread the gospel – no matter how corrupt human minds have become. We have the Holy Spirit as our helper. Through our actions, He can convince people of sin and reveal the truth of the gospel to those who are willing to listen.
The world is not in total darkness; there are still glimmers of light. But it requires greater engagement and preparation to reach out to our culture than it did just a few decades ago. Since Christian thoughts and truths have largely been removed from schools and society, people need someone to tell them the Truth. For the world searches for truths where they do not exist.
“The way of the wicked is like darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble.”
Proverbs 4:19
Spiritual darkness is the glorification of man, that they can do whatever they want – without help from God. Radical secularism has twisted sound reasoning to become perverse: Darkness is seen as normal while light is criminalized. Truth is seen as a threat that must be combated.
In the midst of this perverse generation, we are to be lights for the Lord. We shall stand on the walls and speak as Paul spoke at the Acropolis to a thoroughly ungodly Roman society:
“Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent.”
Acts 17:30
He did not lower the standards but challenged the people to turn away from idols to the living and true God.
