↑ PREACHING FROM THE HEART: Healing does not occur when the Word is merely thought in our hearts, but when we in faith activate our vocal cords and let the Word be heard through preaching. It must be preached from our heart.
Healing Occurs When the Word is Sent from Heart to Heart
Healing is closer than you think. Jesus’ “it is finished” on the cross can give us enormous possibilities. Complete healing for all people means “paid in full” and “fully finished”. The word of healing can be sent “from heart to heart”. With great results!
Here is the solution: Firstly, the Word must be sent:
“He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.”
Psalm 107:20
In other words: God’s word and promises are God’s medicine!
“For they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh.”
Proverbs 4:22
In the original language it says: “medicine to all their flesh”. The Bible is God’s “medicine cabinet”. There are about 7,500 promises here! These are part of the inheritance from God and Jesus (Romans 8:17).
“That through faith and patience inherit the promises.”
Hebrews 6:12
We inherit all the promises.
“For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.”
2 Corinthians 1:20
Sent Through Anointed Preaching
An enormous opportunity in the preaching of God’s living word. How is the healing word sent? The answer is: through the preaching of God’s message through the gospel. Where does it come from?
“The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart.”
Romans 10:8
Note that it does not say brain, but heart. So: for the preaching of the gospel for healing to have an effect, theoretical preaching and theoretical reception – mere “head knowledge” preaching – a theoretical belief that God can heal all, is not enough. It must come from our innermost being – from where God’s Spirit resides: the heart. Therefore, healing does not automatically happen through the preaching of the Word alone, even if the preaching seems theologically correct. The minister’s heart must be right, and he must be anointed (Luke 4:18). His motives must arise from God’s agape love, the devoted love that loves unconditionally, sacrifices without bounds, as it is written about Jesus:
“And when Jesus went out, He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick.”
Matthew 14:14
Full Identification and the Power of the Spoken Word
The word used for “compassion” is the strongest word available in Greek to describe care for another. It means full identification with another in his suffering. One puts their feet in another’s shoes and can thus feel where the shoe pinches. Healing occurs when we preach the word of healing from the message of the cross from a consecrated heart, filled with the spirit of faith and love. This can happen in close contact, from the pulpit, or through phone or television. The healing power of the Spirit will then be released and sent into the life of the sick. God’s word has healing power and creative power, it is “living and active,” is “spirit and life,” for it comes from God's mouth (Hebrews 4:12; John 6:63; 1 Peter 1:23; 1 Thessalonians 2:13).
The world was created by God speaking, it was “created by God's word” (Hebrews 11:3).
“For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.”
Psalm 33:9
The method of preaching is God’s method. We must be followers of God here. It is effective, for it can even save “from destructions”! Receptivity is also important. It is also important that the sick have living faith and spiritual receptivity.
Conclusion
Healing does not occur when the Word is merely pondered in our hearts, but when we in faith set the vocal cords in action and let the Word be heard through the preaching. It must be preached from our heart. The Word must be preached to the needy, even to the terminally ill. And there must be an expectation that the miracle will happen, no matter how severe the illness seems to be:
“Delivered them from destructions.”
Psalm 107:20
Spiritual “Pregnancy”
The spiritual keys to healing have several aspects: Right preaching and a right heart in the life of the intercessor – and the preaching must come from the heart – not the brain. It must also have the right address: to the needy of all categories and all types of illnesses – from healing warts to terminally ill people.
The sick must have receptive hearts, for “with the heart one believes”. The people of Nazareth did not have a right heart towards Jesus and healing. This led to the power of Jesus being halted: “He could not” (Luke 6:5). Here, both the intercessor and the sick must test themselves.
If the preacher has gifts to heal, he stands even stronger. For then he preaches from a better premise for a better result – an “extra gear”. He possesses a spiritual gift that more easily “triggers healing”.
There first is a “spiritual pregnancy” when the Word and faith are melted together:
“But the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.”
Hebrews 4:2
The Spiritual Triangle
Here is my faith concept – The Spiritual Triangle for Healing:
Read the Word
Meditate on the Word
Confess the Word
Then first happens a “spiritual pregnancy”: Then the miracle is born. Follow the spiritual triangle until a spiritual birth occurs. Just as Abraham did for 25 years. Then Isaac was born.
“He was strengthened in his faith, giving glory to God.”
Romans 4:20
