God did not give us permission to conquer, to migrate into the universe. It was the earth humans were to conquer, cultivate, and develop (Genesis 2:15).
But mankind wanted to climb higher. Some time after creation, humans built the Tower of Babel. They wanted to “reach the heavens” (Genesis 11:4). The motivation was pride, managing without God: “Let us make a name for ourselves.” The Tower of Babel was used for astrology and occult activities. God put a stop to the project, confused their language, and halted the construction. People were then dispersed over the entire earth. That was God’s plan: “Subdue it and have dominion over ...” (Genesis 1:28). Humanity was to cultivate and explore the earth and exercise dominion over all creation. The heavenly project of the Tower of Babel was canceled. God has given us the earth, not the universe: “The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s; but the earth He has given to the children of men.” (Psalm 115:16). This Bible verse tells me that there are no humans on other planets. What comes from there is demonic and is called the “spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:12), where the devil is called the “prince of the power of the air” (Ephesians 2:2). He operates from the atmosphere above us. Sometimes, he makes himself known through UFOs and other mysterious phenomena. But why did God create the universe? Among other things, so that we would realize there is a God and that we should worship and honor Him as the Creator of all things (Romans 1:19).
“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork.”
Psalm 19:1
“When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained, what is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him?”
Psalm 8
