God did not give us permission to conquer and move out into the universe. It was the earth that humans were supposed to conquer, cultivate, and develop (Genesis 2:15).

But humans wanted to go higher. Some time after creation, people built the Tower of Babel. They wanted “to reach unto heaven” (Genesis 11:4). The motive was pride, managing without God: “Let us make a name for ourselves.” The Tower of Babel was used for astrology and occult practices. God put a stop to the project, confused their language, and stopped the construction. People were then scattered across the whole earth. That was God's plan: “Have dominion over ...” (Genesis 1:28). Humans were to cultivate and explore the earth and have dominion over all that was created. The heavenly project of the Tower of Babel was canceled. God has given us the earth, not the universe: “The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord's; but the earth He has given to the children of men.” (Psalm 115:16).

This Bible verse tells me that there are no humans on other planets. What comes from there is demonic and is called “the spiritual hosts of wickedness in heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:12), where the devil is called “the prince of the power of the air” (Ephesians 2:2). He operates from the airspace above us. Sometimes he makes himself known through UFOs and other mysterious phenomena. But why did God create the universe? Among other reasons, so that we would understand that there is a God and that we would worship and honor Him as the Creator of all things (Romans 1:19).

“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork.”

Psalm 19:1

“When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained, what is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him!”

Psalm 8:4–5

To move to and invest in the universe as a dwelling place is not approved by God. It is built on human pride, which God will suppress:

“Though you ascend as high as the eagle, and though you set your nest among the stars, from there I will bring you down,” says the Lord.

Obadiah 1:4

The earth is our base, and from here we shall conduct world missions:

“Look to Me and be saved, all you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.”

Isaiah 45:22).

God has spoken, and that is enough!
