June 17, 1988, is a milestone in my life. I had taken a course in healing and was to be commissioned into service by the renowned healing couple Charles and Frances Hunter.
They organized a large healing meeting in the Olympic city of Calgary on June 17, 1988. They called the meeting “Healing Explosion.” Those of us who had taken their healing course participated and prayed for the sick. But before this happened, they came down from the platform and prayed for us preachers who stood in front of the stage, one by one. I am number three from the right. The meeting was held at the Jubilee Auditorium with a thousand people present. The newspaper Calgary Herald wrote positively about the meeting. Charles and Frances were not opposed to conventional medicine and doctors but taught people to believe in God’s healing power.
This couple is likely the most successful in the healing ministry in church history. They shared their gifts with others and were simple in their preaching and practice of healing. The couple has written dozens of books on the subject. They passed away several years ago but leave behind a wonderful and powerful legacy!
It's strange to think that our son Kenneth and his family live about ten kilometers outside the city where I was commissioned into the healing ministry. The entire family of five belongs to a wonderful congregation in Calgary. He and his wife Anne-Helen are part of the church leadership. The legacy continues!
