↑ GRADUALLY HEALED: Ove Kolås surely called Svein-Magne Pedersen over a hundred times for prayer. And the gradual healing began.
Ove Kolås lives in his birthplace in Lindås, fifty kilometers north of Bergen, where he was born and raised. He turned 69 in January this year, is healthy and active, and says he has ten grandchildren whom he thoroughly enjoys, picks up from school, and spends time with.
Former Police Officer and Farmer
Ove has had a long career as a police officer.
“In the 70s and 80s, I worked at the Oslo Police District. It was an exciting job. I took a leave of absence from the position in 1981, went home to Lindås, built a house, worked shifts, was a soccer coach, and was very stressed,” he says.
Ove also planned to work for a while at an oil refinery, but that would soon come to an abrupt halt.
“While I was wallpapering the bedroom, I suddenly had a severe attack of dizziness. I collapsed on the floor and became very ill. I went to the doctor, but he could not find out what it was. I kept getting worse. Had no strength for anything. I had severe attacks of dizziness all the time.”
Bedridden and in Need of Care
He realized that this meant the end of his career as a police officer.
“In 1986–87, I was so ill that I was bedridden. Used a wheelchair both outdoors and indoors. I could not hold my head up. Had visual disturbances and gradually lost the ability to carry on conversations with others. I used hearing protection and earplugs to muffle sounds that could trigger even more attacks of dizziness.”
Incurable and Fatal
In 1984, spinal fluid samples were taken at Haukeland Hospital.
“A professor of neurology said that I had the worst form of the disease. The outlook was poor. He told me that I was going to die of MS in an institution.”
Ove replied to the professor: “Jesus is going to heal me!”

↑ DEEP DOWN: Ove Kolås was so ill and at such a low point that he wrote farewell letters to his children and family.
God Said He Would Recover
At the time, he was the father of two young children. It was a tough message to receive.
“I was then so ill and at such a low point that I wrote farewell letters to my children and family.”
But God willed it otherwise.
Ove says he grew up in a Christian home and has been a Christian all his life.
“I therefore chose to put all my trust in God, even though I believed I was going to die.”
It was through Svein-Magne Pedersen’s magazine, *Brevet* (The Letter), that he found out about his healing ministry. He therefore called Pedersen and requested prayer.
“Then I received an answer from God: ‘You are going to be completely healed.’”
God confirmed His promise
At that time, Ove often listened to a local Christian radio station. He prayed that if it were true that he would be healed, he needed to receive a confirmation from God.
“On the radio they had a competition. The prize was a pizza. I told God that I would believe in healing if my name was called out that night. And it happened. They said, ‘Ove Kolås.’ Afterwards, I thought that it was probably just luck.”
Two Sundays later, there was another competition. This time it was questions and answers from the Bible. I asked God to show me the scriptures and the answers. Ove was sitting just then with his Bible open to the pages about Jesus and the Samaritan woman. It turned out that this was exactly the theme of the competition.
“Afterward, I cried for hours because then I understood that God wanted to heal me.”
A miracle of dimensions
Ove Kolås probably called Svein-Magne Pedersen over a hundred times and received prayer. And the gradual healing began. Little by little, he kept getting better. He describes it as progressing at a snail’s pace. One by one, the symptoms disappeared and the illness left his body.
“It was a healing of dimensions. A few months later, I could walk in to see the neurologist at Haukeland. New MRI scans showed that all the MS was gone. It was an impossibility that something like that could happen. MS is incurable,” he says.
Faith-strengthening
Ove says he has never doubted God. Experiencing such a great miracle has, at the very least, been faith-strengthening.
“When I was at my worst, I put all my trust in the Lord. I posted Bible verses about healing on the walls; in the kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom. And I constantly memorized the Word of God.”

↑ TESTIFIES: He often testifies about what he has experienced. But of course, he meets those who claim they do not believe in such things and argue that maybe he was not so sick after all.
“But that is only those who do not know me and did not see how sick I was. After having such an incredible experience in my life, I see how good God is and understand even more that we have something good to look forward to when we get to Heaven,” Ove Kolås concludes.
It is part of the story that the professor of neurology later wrote to Ove and said that he had been saved. Perhaps it was because of the MS miracle?
