↑ ILLUSTRATION IMAGE: Miracles are followed by more good fruits in our lives.
Throughout the entire Bible we see a red thread: Where signs, wonders, and miracles occur, there is growth in God's kingdom. When Israel's leader Joshua and his generation died out, the people forgot the great miracles that had happened in their history—and fell away from God.
“The people served the Lord all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works of the Lord which He had done for Israel. Now Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died when he was one hundred and ten years old ... So all that generation had been gathered to their fathers; another generation arose after them who did not know the Lord nor the work which He had done for Israel. Then the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord and served the Baals.”
Judges 2:7–11
“And Israel served the Lord all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who outlived Joshua, who had known all the works of the Lord which He had done for Israel.”
Joshua 24:31
The fruits of miracles are many
The Bible states: When miracles, and witnesses who have seen miracles themselves, die out and disappear, sin, worldliness, and unbelief enter. This is one of the reasons why we need to see God's power in our midst often and regularly. It keeps unbelief and worldliness away so that this spiritual power does not easily take root. That is precisely why I often write and testify about God's power with wonders and signs.
The fruits of miracles are many: Salvation, joy, faith, praise, sanctification, godliness, courage, and revival! Like ripples in water! How can we live without miracles in our midst? Jesus himself says that if the miracles that had taken place during his work in his hometown of Capernaum had occurred in Sodom, this sinful city would have been spared judgment and destruction!
“And you, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to Hades; for if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.”
Matthew 11:23
Our prayer must always be: “Lord, let us see more and more miracles in our midst, so that unbelief and worldliness may disappear from our place, our city, and our country.”

Miracles at Opsahl Guesthouse in Bodø
Let me give an example from our work. A few years ago, I was to pray for the sick at Opsahl Guesthouse in Bodø. I had advertised in a newspaper in Bodø that I was going to pray for the sick at the hotel. On the trip to Bodø, I called the hotel to see how things were looking ahead of my visit. The owner's wife said, “It's packed in the stairs and halls with people wanting to meet you. You must sneak in the back way.” I found no back way and had to push past people in the stairs, hallways, and dining room—and finally reached the prayer room. People had filled the dining room too!
I let the sick in one by one into the prayer room. I prayed, among others, for a woman with hip erosion. She came limping in on two crutches. When I prayed for her, a miracle happened. Her hips were healed, and the pain disappeared. She could leave the prayer room with her crutches under her arm! The woman had to walk through the overcrowded dining room. Everyone could see what had happened. They had seen her struggle forward with two crutches, but now she no longer needed them!
Among the many who sat there and saw what had happened, was a man from Røst. He later told me, “I was unsaved at that time, but when I saw this woman come out with the crutches under her arm, I was very moved. This was great! Later that day, I went to my hotel room, knelt by the bed, and surrendered to God!” This is one of many fruits of miracles: Salvation!
Do we need more miracles? Yes, many, many more! God wants to tell the world that He lives and cares for all who suffer. During Israel's wilderness journey, the people received 'heavenly bread'—manna—every morning! That means at least one miracle every day!
“He does great things past finding out, Yes, wonders without number.”
