Prophetically speaking, first a step back for Iran. They will have to lick their wounds, but unfortunately, Iran will still be Iran—damaged, but nevertheless becoming more closely tied to the leader Gog from Russia, in agreement.
Russia will eventually reluctantly agree to an attack on Israel. God will pull the Russian leader with “hooks in your jaws” towards Israel (Ezekiel 38:4). Accompanying him are at least nine other partners, including “Persia” (Iran) (Ezekiel 38:5). Thus, Iran is still considered a country capable of waging war! These people will move towards Israel and attack from multiple directions. Then, God’s fire and brimstone from heaven will strike Gog and his entire great army and destroy them on the “mountains of Israel” (Ezekiel 39:4). The USA’s attack on Iran will lead Iran to forge closer ties with Russia and a number of Arab nations. Turkey will leave NATO (see the name “people of Togarmah”, Ezekiel 38:5-6), for this nation will join forces with Russia (“king of the North”, Joel 2:20), “from the far north”, Ezekiel 39:2, and Iran—in a future war against Israel. A number of other countries will join in an attack on Israel. Russia will attack Israel twice in the end times. The first is described in Ezekiel 38 and 39 and Joel 2:20. The next will occur in connection with the war on the plains of Armageddon towards the end of a 7-year tribulation period on earth (Daniel 11:40-45). The USA’s attack on Iran may perhaps provide a brief respite, but in the long run, an even stronger coalition of countries opposing Israel, mainly Muslim countries (Ezekiel 38:5-6). Iran (“Persia”, Ezekiel 38:5), along with Russia and at least seven other countries, will be crushed “on the mountains of Israel” by God himself. People will understand that God is behind this precision strike, and his name will be praised (Ezekiel 38:21-23; 39:2). Here, God will “break the bow of Elam” (Jeremiah 49:34). Elam is another name for Iran.
The USA’s attack on Iran is understandable. The threat of a nuclear war in the region is palpable, but the attack will not solve the crisis in the Middle East.
No lasting peace until the Prince of Peace sets his feet on the Mount of Olives (Zechariah 14:4). Sorry, Trump!
