↑ IRAN IN A BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE: In this article, I place today's riots in Iran into a biblical, prophetic perspective based on the prophecies of Ezekiel and Revelation.
Here there are large riots and demonstrations. The authorities are using force against the demonstrators. Several hundred have been killed. Will the people manage to break free from a violent Islamic regime? What does the Bible say?
In the prophet Ezekiel 38 and 39, we can read about a Russian attack on Israel. God will come to “put hooks into your jaws and lead you out with your whole army” (Ezekiel 38:2). This war is willed by God, for God will punish these peoples who attack “my people” and “my land” (Ezekiel 38:16). The reason for the invasion is “to plunder, to rob, and to take booty” (Ezekiel 38:12).
We can therefore conclude that Putin (or another Russian leader) will not come to lose in a possible confrontation with NATO.
It is not the war against Israel I wish to describe here. I just want to focus on the peoples who come with the great Russian army against Israel. The time will be “at the end of years,” “in the latter days” (Ezekiel 38:8.16). This is an expression that indicates the end of our age, shortly before, or right after the rapture. Here, Iran comes into the picture. About the Russian leader Gog (a title for a leader), it is written: “Prepare yourself and be ready, you and all your companies that have gathered around you. You shall be their guard.” (Ezekiel 38:7). With them, the Russians have at least nine other countries. The names of the countries are mentioned in Ezekiel. Among the names is the name “Persia”. It is today's Iran. The country was called Persia until March 1935. Then the country was called the Islamic Republic of Iran. Therefore, Iran is part of the Russian campaign against Israel.
Today's riots will not lead to Iran changing its political course. Many of us wish for the Iranian people to be free from the Islamic tyrants. If there were to be a victory for the demonstrators, the clergy, unfortunately, will come to power again. This is something that “must” happen for the prophecies to be fulfilled precisely.
I hope you are interested in the Bible's prophecies. The Bible says: “Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the prophetic word” (Revelation 1:3). The word “blessed” is a strong word for happiness. The prophetic word helps in keeping us on the right track in our relationship with God. It helps to give us political and spiritual perspective in a world that is in chaos.
