↑ BODØ AND TVERLANDET: After Janita and Christopher moved to Tverlandet, they took up the work in Løding House of Prayer, for which they have visions. Here they are at Nyholmen skandse at the edge of Burøya in Bodø.

Over the past few years, I have sometimes visited Løding House of prayer in Tverlandet near Bodø. The work there had been dormant for many years until Janita Johansen Åkerøy, along with her husband, Christopher, felt called by God to begin a mission there a few years ago.

Janita was saved at one of my meetings at Folkets hus in Bodø on October 13, 2012. Her father was saved at one of my meetings in Ørneshallen in 1999. A divine coincidence!!

↑ LONG MEETING: The picture is from a meeting a couple of years earlier. On Saturday, October 11, this year, I visited Løding House of prayer again. We arranged prayer for the sick – for five hours!

Now I want to honor Janita and Christopher for the work they have done in the place where they live: The village of Tverlandet, twenty kilometers from Bodø.

Janita is in no doubt: “God gave me a vision and called us to move here to start an evangelical mission in the village.”

After much prayer, the couple agreed to buy a house in Tverlandet. This happened seven years ago. At that time, they lived in the place Mørkved in Bodø. In Tverlandet, the work was almost dormant, with few activities at Løding House of prayer. But some of the old faith friends still prayed that God's work in the area would move forward.

↑ HISTORIC BUILDING: The picture is from Widerøe's historical aerial photo collection. Here Løding is photographed in 1948, three years after World War II.

After Janita and Christopher moved to Tverlandet, they resumed the work in Løding House of prayer. The association was founded on December 31, 1878. The couple started by organizing meetings occasionally. I was among the first invited. The announcement that I had started holding meetings at Løding House of prayer made the place known. Gradually the work picked up. Now they organize one to several meetings a month. New people are constantly coming to the meetings. Løding House of prayer has also started holding children's meetings once a month and prayer meetings every Thursday.

At Christmas, they will once again arrange a free Christmas dinner for the lonely and needy in the village. They can serve food to up to 50 people.

Today, Janita is the leader of the house of prayer board. She has faith and visions for her village and experiences that God is with the work. Gradually, the work has begun to bear fruit. More have been saved, and God has performed miracles. People who were initially negative about the work in a small, old house of prayer from 1878 have now begun to see that God is blessing it. They have said to Janita: “We can see that God is blessing the work with success and growth, and we believe in you.”

Now there is a faithful core of around 15 attendees. The faith in growth is great among them all.
