These are simple truths, but the message is described clearly and plainly in the Bible. They can make us more dangerous for him when he plans attacks against us believers.
He cannot stop you from praying. So pray!
He cannot defeat Jesus and the gospel. Therefore, we can stand firm on the power of Jesus' blood. So confess it!
He cannot triumph over the Truth in Scripture – therefore, we quote the promises with great boldness.
He cannot take the joy of the Lord from us. It dwells inside, in our hearts, built on God's unchanging promises. Therefore, we can rejoice in His love. So praise the Lord now!
With this as a basis we can now:
“Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”
James 4:7
By doing this we destroy his plans against us today. We make him angry and frustrated!
Send the devil packing: When Jesus was tempted by the devil three times, He confronted the devil three times with God's unchanging word. What happened then? “THEN THE DEVIL LEFT HIM.” Do not let yourself be subdued by the devil. He has already lost the battle for humanity through Jesus' atoning death on the cross and His victorious resurrection. He is disarmed and on his way to hell (Colossians 2:14–15; Revelation 20:10). Remind him of that, and he'll have a terrible day today! That's when he'll run away! Congratulations on the victory through the power of the gospel!
Always comes back: The devil always comes back to see if there is an opening for his destructive power. Just let him find closed doors. We must not give place to the devil by allowing “little foxes,” sins that can give the devil a chance to harm us. And should it happen, the way to the throne of grace is always open!
“Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
Hebrews 4:16
