↑ MISSIONARIES: Cecilia and Runar – serving in the world's second-largest country, Canada.

Cecilia and Runar are celebrating seven years of ministry in a country God began planting in their hearts when Cecilia was only eleven years old. What began as a miracle in a small church in Norway grew into a lifelong calling that would shape both their direction and future. Join them on the journey—from God’s first touch in childhood to a life of ministry and service in one of the world's largest and most multicultural nations.

In June 2025, our family celebrated our seventh year in Canada. Over the years, many have asked us to share our story— and what better time than now, as we mark our milestone? As we look back and reflect on the journey we've walked, we feel the time is right to invite you into the story of how God led us from our beloved homeland, Norway, to our new home in Canada.

Looking Back

Before we share the story of our family’s move from Norway, we would like to offer a little retrospective. Our story begins many years ago, when Cecilia was only 11 years old. She and her parents were part of a congregation in Os, just outside Bergen. One weekend, she experienced something very special. The congregation had invited an evangelist who had lived in Canada, and someone you may know well: Svein-Magne Pedersen.

↑ CANADA: At 11 years old, Cecilia listens to her future father-in-law as he shared stories about Canada.

With great expectation and curiosity, Cecilia sat at the very front, eager to hear the evangelist's many testimonies from Canada. From that moment, fire was kindled in her heart, marking her first encounter with the miraculous. At this very first meeting with the man she did not yet know would become her future father-in-law, Cecilia’s once misaligned back was completely healed.

Svein-Magne and his family lived in Canada from 1982 to 1988 and became Canadian citizens on July 13, 1989, in Winnipeg.

Runar, Svein-Magne's eldest son, spent much of his childhood in Canada. He was 13 years old when the family moved back to Norway. Having completed all his elementary school years in Canada, Runar remained Canadian at heart. The transition was not always easy, but he adapted remarkably well. Even at a young age, Runar’s heart for service was clear. By the time he was 15, he had begun working with Jesus Heals Ministries in Vennesla after school. From that point onward, he has devoted himself wholeheartedly to the work of the ministry, faithfully serving to this day.

The Journey to Canada

Cecilia and Runar did not know of each other until Cecilia was 16 and Runar was 19. In fact, it would still be several years before they met for the first time. Later, their paths would cross, as God’s timing and plan brought them together.

In 1997, Cecilia's parents went out as missionaries among the indigenous people in Canada. Fresh out of high school, 19-year-old Cecilia decided to join them. Her time in Canada left a deep and lasting impression, planting Canada firmly in her heart. From that experience onward, she felt a clear and compelling calling from God to serve in the country.

Cecilia and Runar met for the first time in 1997 in Abbotsford, the city they now call home. As you might imagine, sparks soon flew, and they became a couple. They later returned to Norway, where their relationship blossomed into marriage in 1999.

Cecilia earned a bachelor’s degree in kindergarten teaching, while Runar completed a bachelor's degree in public administration. They began their journey as a family, joyfully raising four children, a true blessing in their lives.

The years went by, yet the call to Canada never faded. On the contrary, it grew stronger with time. Over the years, they made numerous ministry trips to the country, each one further confirming the call God had placed on their hearts.

In 2016, they received word from the Canadian authorities that their children were Canadian by birth. This opened the door to a long-held dream in their hearts—one that now could become reality. During this period, God spoke clearly to them, and their plans began to take shape.

“Canada, here we come!”

In 2018, they moved with their family of six to Canada. They sold or gave away everything they owned, travelling with just two suitcases each. Was it an easy process? Absolutely not, yet God was with them every step of the way. They carry countless testimonies of His guidance and provision both during the move and throughout the journey.

In May 2025, Cecilia received Canadian citizenship. After 26 years of marriage to a Canadian, this was truly a blessing from God, marking a significant milestone in their journey.

↑ WITNESSES: Wherever they go, Cecilia and Runar faithfully share the message of the gospel.

Canada is a vast country with a population of 40 million, yet only 3% identifies as peronally saved, and their numbers are rapidly declining. Cecilia, Runar, and their family live in the city of Abbotsford, home to 170,000 people. Canada is the homeland of multiculturalism and consists of many different cultural and ethnic groups. In the province of British Columbia alone, 5.7 million reside, highlighting the immense opportunities for evangelization and ministry work in this enormous nation.

Numerous ministry tasks await

Cecilia and Runar work in the Canadian society Jesus Heals Ministries. In addition to handling administrative duties and maintaining contact with people worldwide seeking prayer, they are passionate about reaching the Canadian population, both locally and nationally. Their work also involves continually building new connections and collaborating with other ministries to reach and impact across the nation.

Canada is vast, the need is great, and the demand for ministry work is immense. Cecilia and Runar are actively in the field, evangelizing, doing outreach, offering intercessory prayer ministry in a variety of settings, and mentoring. Runar also follows his calling in worship, using his guitar to minister both in church and at various events, including inter-church worship gatherings.

During their seven years in Canada, Cecilia and Runar also attended Bible school for two years. The program followed a curriculum from Bethel in the USA, with teaching focused on evangelism, the miraculous, healing, and the prophetic. Their time at Bible school was deeply transformative and life-changing, marked by powerful encounters with God that left a lasting impact on their lives. Today, Cecilia and Runar practice the prophetic and healing daily in their ministry and in their encounters with people – both planned and unexpected, wherever they go. Through their prophetic and healing ministry, many have received inner and physical healing.

Missionary and author

In recent years, Cecilia has also written a book published in February 2025 by Messenger Books, a publishing company in the USA. Titled Never the Same, the book is currently being translated into Norwegian, with The Norwegian edition expected to be released next year. Those interested can purchase the English version through Cecilia's website.

In the book, Cecilia shares the journey from Norway to Canada, along with many personal testimonies from their life. She also shares how embracing your true identity and listening to God's voice can lead to both inner and physical healing. Since the book’s publication, Cecilia has been invited to speak at a variety of events and settings. In these opportunities, she shares her experiences, insights, and the lessons God has taught her.

Runar and Cecilia see ministry as their life’s calling, dedicating their lives wholeheartedly to the work God has placed before them. They are passionate about helping people break free from chains and step into the freedom God offers— embracing their true identity, discovering their God-given calling, and experiencing both inner and physical healing. Above all, their deepest desire is to see people enter into a close, personal relationship with Jesus, a relationship that transform them from the inside out.

↑ WALKING A NARROW PATH: Missionaries walk in faith, also as a family. We are deeply grateful to all the partners who supports, pray and remember the work of Jesus Heals Ministries, both at home and abroad.
