When we study the word "oil" and "anointing oil" in the Bible, we discover that it can help us in many areas of life – far more than most people are aware of.

POWER OIL. Since I, through the prayer of faith, dedicate all anointing oil that comes to Jesus Heals Ministries, God's power has entered it. The Bible distinguishes between "natural oil" and "holy, consecrated oil". "Natural oil" is spiritually dead in itself, but anointing oil is "living" – because God's immortal power is in it. Therefore, God calls this oil "My holy anointing oil" (Exodus 30:31). When God calls it "holy", it means it is set apart for a holy purpose: protection and blessing for the people (Exodus 30:22–29). The oil symbolizes the power of the Holy Spirit. David says:

"You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over."

Psalm 23:5

PROTECTION. The tabernacle, the ark of the covenant, and all its utensils were anointed and consecrated for holy use (Exodus 40:9–11; Leviticus 8:10–11). It can also mean that the place was protected by God's presence, because the oil was dedicated to the Lord. Priests, kings, and prophets were also consecrated with this anointing oil (Exodus 30:30; 1 Samuel 10:1,9–10; 1 Samuel 16:13; 1 Kings 19:16). It means that they also received power for the ministry and came under God's protection. King Saul and King David became great warriors.

DELIVERANCE AND HEALING. The Spirit's power in the anointing oil has the power both to deliver from spiritual forces and remove illnesses. The Bible states that the Spirit's power in the consecrated anointing oil has the power both to heal and to cast out evil spirits. The devil hates God's power, for it means his power is broken and trampled under our feet (Luke 10:19). It was Jesus who began to use oil in the healing ministry. There are no such accounts in the Old Testament. It was Jesus also who sent out his disciples and gave them the mission – and to use anointing oil. Regarding their work, it is written:

"And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them."

Mark 6:13

This practice was continued by the early Christian churches. In the book of James, believers are advised to seek the elders to be anointed with oil:

"Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up."

James 5:14-15

The oil was connected to the prayer of faith and the Lord's name and therefore had a great effect!

PROTECTION AGAINST DISEASES – EVEN FOR THOSE WHO ARE HEALTHY. If consecrated anointing oil can contain power to deliver from spiritual forces and healing from all types of diseases, must it not also be able to PROTECT AGAINST all types of diseases? I believe so. Apply oil and protect yourself against getting sick: I also recommend HEALTHY people to apply a drop of consecrated oil on their forehead and chest every day.

PROTECTION AGAINST ACCIDENTS. Could it also protect against accidents? The anointing of the tabernacle and the ark had a protective effect on the place. God warns the people against touching his anointed prophets, for they were consecrated for service and protected:

"Do not touch My anointed ones, and do My prophets no harm."

Psalm 105:15

ANOINTING OF POSSESSIONS. The tabernacle, the ark of the covenant, and all the utensils used in worship were anointed. This can serve as an example for us. I recommend applying a few drops of anointing oil on the front door of your house, on your car, and other significant possessions you wish to protect. You can also anoint your land against intruders.

The anointing of the Holy Spirit works over time. The prophetic anointing to the power prophet Elisha worked even many years after his death. A dead man came back to life by touching the prophet's bones in a tomb (2 Kings 13:21). Elisha had been dead for many years by then.
