“As we exhort EVERY PERSON we meet.”
Colossians 1:28
I view people as a resource and a blessing in my life. God has given me the privilege of meeting many people through hundreds of calls each week – and at various meetings.
Far more than most preachers experience. But then, I don’t take vacations and often work 70-hour weeks. I must do so to manage to keep my head above water financially. God has given me an evangelist role in helping people in sickness and distress – and to salvation. Healing evangelist. As Jesus also was (Luke 13:32). Sometimes I just “stumble” upon them on the road of life.
People are a resource
I have learned that people are a resource and a blessing in my own life. God has sent many to me to teach me something I need help with, to bless my life in various areas. We are not created to be alone or just to “play solo.” God wants us to be part of a larger group that has common goals. We are strong when we are many and often weak when we are few.
But in my work, which is very special, there are things that only I can do, and then the circle around me is small. Many times I feel lonely. Jesus sometimes had only a few around him and sometimes had to do important things alone. Alone in Gethsemane while his closest ones fell asleep. Quite alone on the cross. Paul experienced the same. He could be deserted and attacked.
Take care of those God gives you
If we are alone, He is there to comfort us, shape us, and reveal new paths. The promise remains firm:
“I will never leave you nor forsake you. Therefore we may boldly say: The Lord is my helper, I will not fear. What can a man do to me?”
Hebrews 13:5–6
Take care of the people God sends your way. I usually lift them up by saying something good to them. I am filled with God's love for them. I often put them in my heart, encourage them, and sometimes give them some prophetic words. Those whom God sends will make you strong. Paul had people at the center of his work, not superficially, but focused: “Every person.” But beware of those who want to harm you. They are sent by an enemy. Turn your back on them.
