Where are we today on the prophetic map? What about Russia in the prophecies? What will happen in Europe according to the prophetic map?
There are currently 30 countries in NATO. During the seven-year tribulation period that will follow immediately after the rapture of the church (Daniel 9:27), the Antichrist will emerge as the leader of a powerful ten-nation alliance within the boundaries of the ancient Roman Empire:
“The ten horns are ten kings who shall arise from this kingdom. And another shall rise after them; he shall be different from the first ones, And shall subdue three kings.”
Daniel 7:24
What will happen to NATO unity? What about the EU with 27 member countries? It could mean that we are facing a war that will split Europe and strip NATO and the EU. Out of the war, a new coalition of ten countries will unite. A new union of ten states will be established, with a strong world leader – the Antichrist.
“Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name.”
Revelation 13:1
The outlines of a Russian attack on Europe are clear. Ten countries will remain. A large-scale nuclear war is unlikely, for the Antichrist's kingdom in Europe will remain intact. So will the kingdom of Gog (Russia). This country will later move against Israel (Ezekiel 38 and 39). The war in Europe will not weaken them.
The USA is not mentioned in the prophetic writings. This country will gradually decline and will not pose a threat when Russia attacks Israel. But Russia will be met with fire from heaven on the mountains of Israel, God’s judgment on Gog, the Russian leader, and his numerous partners in the war (Ezekiel 38:21–23).
Prophetically, we are facing tough times. The only bright spot is that there will be a “bridal revival” among God’s people and the return of Jesus will soon occur:
“Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.”
Revelation 19:7
At the same time, there will be a great falling away from the faith (1 Timothy 4:1; Matthew 24:11; 2 Thessalonians 2:3). Both God and Satan will have a “revival.” But I am waiting for Jesus, hoping and praying that He will come before the Russians attack Europe and split the continent.
When the Antichrist and the ten-nation alliance arise, we will be gone. Paul describes this event as follows:
“... only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed ...”
2 Thessalonians 2:7–8
The prayers, presence, and preaching of the Christians act as a restraining force against the emergence of the Antichrist. Jesus and the rapture of the church will occur BEFORE Antichrist and the ten-nation alliance (“ten horns,” “ten crowns”). (Revelation 13:1) The return of Jesus is imminent. Are you ready when the trumpets sound?
“For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.”
1 Thessalonians 4:16–17
I am not waiting for the Antichrist; I am waiting for Christ:
“So Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.”
Hebrews 9:28
