The Bible is a prophetic book. 27 percent of its content is prophetic in nature, meaning – it is about what God will do in the future. No fewer than 318 prophecies describe the return of Jesus. Despite this – only ten percent of the church's preachers speak about this important subject at their meetings.
Jesus said that the time before His return would be like the days BEFORE the flood. Jesus says:
"And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man."
Luke 17:26
About this time it is written:
"Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually."
Genesis 6:5
"All flesh had corrupted their way on the earth."
Genesis 6:12
The time before the great flood is, comparably, our time. God's commandments are rejected and Christian ethics are ruthlessly trampled underfoot.
Prophetically speaking, it is only going to get worse. We live in such a time. A time when God responds to those who oppose Him with "strong delusion, that they should believe the lie" (2 Thessalonians 2:11). Today's gender confusion is a result of God responding to those who love their own desires more than God with "moral confusion," "vile passions" (2 Thessalonians 2:10-11; Romans 1:26). The same people who say we must trust science deny the scientific facts that men and women are differently created. In this spiritual chaos, we shall let our light shine.
The Flood can be compared to the seven-year tribulation period that will come upon the earth with 19 great judgments (Revelation 6–19). This time will historically be Israel's 70th week, a period of seven years when God deals especially with Israel – and judges the world because of their sins (Daniel 9:27). But – how shall we escape God's judgment upon a sinful world? Here is the answer: THE RAPTURE! Jesus says:
"In that night two will be in one bed: the one will be TAKEN and the other will be LEFT. Two women will be grinding together: the one will be TAKEN and the other LEFT. Two will be in the field: the one will be TAKEN and the other LEFT."
Luke 17:34–36
Thus: The Rapture happens BEFORE the judgment upon the earth (Revelation 6–19). Some believe this means they are taken to judgment in hell or raptured to Jerusalem at the visible return of Jesus where the angels will gather humanity for judgment. I believe this is a misinterpretation. For the Flood is a picture of the seven-year tribulation on earth, which we will escape: "He who delivers us from the wrath to come." (1 Thessalonians 1:10). When Jesus describes the times (including a church history of around 2000 years), He naturally includes the greatest event in history – the rapture of believers! And of course, this is a word of comfort to us who live in this time. Therefore we can comfort ourselves with the fact that "in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye" we will "be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air" (1 Corinthians 15:52; 1 Thessalonians 4:17).
The return of Jesus to take His bride, the church, home to heaven cannot be determined. "Behold, I am coming quickly." (Revelation 22:7) "Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming." (Matthew 25:13). But we shall know the TIMES. In my book Jesus is Coming Soon, I have described 25 end-time signs. Moral decay is one of them.
We are living in THE LAST GENERATION before Jesus comes. The generation that Jesus describes like this: "Assuredly, I say to you, this GENERATION will by no means pass away till all these things take place." (Matthew 24:34). This generation is the generation (in Greek: genea) that lives at the time when Israel regains its land, the fig tree blossoms:
"Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors! Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place."
Matthew 24:32–34
Israel regained its land on May 14, 1948. Then the fig tree, Israel, was placed in the land that God had long ago given them. Then the leaves began to sprout, and a nation was born! Then the end-time generation clock began to tick. According to Jesus, many of us will live when the rapture takes place. We have hope of avoiding death. I myself was born in the prophetic year of 1948.
We live in exciting times! The return of Jesus is just around the corner! Then some will be "taken" and others will "be left behind." Left behind to a world that will experience seven years of judgment with the Antichrist as a brutal world ruler.
