God has established a law, a universal law that applies to all: “Whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.” (Galatians 6:7 NKJV)

It is a natural law as well as a spiritual law. The truth is that we reap the same as we sow—and we reap more than we sow. And we reap at a different time than the sowing time.

Natural law: Society is built upon the law of sowing and reaping. Prisons are full of people who did not care about this law.

Spiritual law: But this law also applies to the spiritual realm. God's Spirit accompanies us and responds to our actions—whether our actions cause harm or bring benefit. A hurtful word, a harmful act, betrayal, an angry look—all such things will bring negative fruits later in life.

Conversely: Good, wise, encouraging words, a helping hand, a testimony, evangelism with tract distribution, a generous gift, big or small—all these will yield results in the future. For God has promised that His word is productive:

“It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”

Isaiah 55:11 NKJV

“For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.”

Galatians 6:8 NKJV

I once heard about a poor man at a meeting who had nothing to give to the collection basket. But then he tore off a button from his jacket and gave it to God. God saw the man’s heart and blessed him back. The man continued to give generously to God's cause. He eventually became a millionaire!

Let us use money and good deeds as seed (2 Corinthians 9:10–12 NKJV). Being rich in good deeds leads to rich fruits that will be a great blessing for us in the future. How blessed we are now often depends on how much we have previously sown in God's field. And how blessed our life will become in the future depends on how much we sow to others now. Have you thought about that?
