The Christian's calling: To be a light
The task of the Christian in the world is not primarily to uproot spiritual weeds, but to blossom even more, in the midst of the 'field of weeds.'
"Do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world."
Phil 2:14–15
The world is going to become darker and darker, but our comfort is that when we stay close to the Lord and continue in the word of life, we are destined to prosper and overcome the desires, emptiness, and deception of the world. Even a small light dispels darkness. People will then come to us to find light.
What do we do when the world becomes darker and darker? Then we just shine stronger and stronger. Jesus calls us "the light of the world" (Matt 5:14).
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."
Matt 5:16
Our lives can bring salvation to people so that they too can glorify the Lord! So let's give the world God's light through the words of the gospel and good deeds.
