Before we make important choices, we should first ask for God's wisdom. Jesus went up the mountain to pray before he chose his twelve disciples (Luke 6:12–13). And before he performed the miracle of the bread and fish with 5000 and 4000 men, he prayed to his Father (John 6:11; Matt 15:36). 

We also need to pray before making important choices in life so that we do not go wrong. Paul says: 

"And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Philippians 4:7

The peace of heart that God gives us when we choose the right way is an indicator that we have chosen God's way. If you feel unrest, it may be a red light from God blinking and saying: "Stop! You need to check this further." Listen to your heart and be preserved from making wrong choices.
