The miracle has two legs to stand on
Most miracles in the Bible involve two parties: us and God. God wants us to take the first step. This is called active faith. He does nothing until we do our part.
Once, Jesus surprised His disciples by walking on the sea. Peter asked Jesus if he could come to Him. Jesus said:
"Come! And Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water to Jesus."
Matt 14:29
Here we have the two parties of the miracle: Jesus, who gives the promise of a miracle, and Peter, who acts on the promise—and the miracle happens. Miracles don’t happen "randomly." They are the fruit of faith that dares to trust in God’s promises—without first seeing, feeling, or sensing anything.
For the one who believes, one word from Jesus is enough: "Come!"
The centurion, who had a sick servant at home, said to Jesus:
"But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed."
Matt 8:8
Jesus called his faith "great" (Matt 8:10).
"And his servant was healed that same hour."
Matt 8:13
A word is enough for a miracle to happen.
But—a miracle stands on two legs: promise and action.
