Laying on of hands – a sacred act
Lay hands is a sacred act, instituted by Jesus himself. In the Great Commission, Jesus says:
"They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."
Mark 16:18
This means two things: It marks an act of faith, and it can help transmit an anointing from God through the intercessor with a healing effect.
I once met a woman who told me she had an old Norwegian Bible from 1690. It was written in Gothic script. She showed it to me. I was interested in reading Mark 16:18. It said:
"They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover little by little."
An interesting insight. The Greek word for healing here may include a possible time period from laying on of hands to the fulfillment of healing. An important lesson. God does not always operate according to the "press the button principle." Sometimes faith must wait for an answer. But it will get better – little by little.
Laying on of hands is a sacred act, instituted by Jesus himself and included in the Great Commission. This practice should be used more to improve the spiritual health service in the congregations.
