John says: 

"Keep yourselves from idols."

1 John 5:21 (NKJV)

An idol can be anything that takes first place in our lives. The first place is for God and no one else. It may be wise to conduct an attic cleaning and get rid of things that have taken too much time and space in one's life. 

We need to become Christ-centered more than "thing- and person-centered." Greed and idolizing people are widespread forms of idolatry. I believe that the main god in Norway is called Mammon. Money, things, and power in that context bind many. It may be wise to ask oneself: What do I spend most of my time and money on? What is my main interest in life? The answer to these questions will tell us a lot about ourselves. Don't let the devil condemn you, but repent and declare Jesus as Lord over all things in your life, both small and large idols that take too much space in our lives.

Cast out everything that stands in the way between you and God. Remove all distracting elements that take focus away from Jesus and the gospel. Then you will feel that all chains and bonds will fall. You are free!!
