Asked for prayer for prostate – got his hair back

A former engineer called me one day in April 2017 and asked for prayer for prostate problems. I prayed for his ailments. Little did I know that God would surprise both him and myself with a sign of His sovereignty and power.

About 30 years ago, the engineer lost the hair on the top of his head. He now had only a ring of hair around the sides of his head. For all these years, he had been bald with a shiny scalp. A few days after I had prayed for his prostate problems, he noticed to his great astonishment that the hair on the top of his head had started to grow! It was the same color as the rest of his hair, dark brown. Days went by, and the hair just continued to grow. Although the hair growth was by no means dense, he got a small fringe at the front.

A few weeks later, he went to his hairdresser to get a haircut. Immediately after he sat in the hairdresser's chair, his female hairdresser (who knew him very well from many previous visits) noticed that something had changed. “What on earth has happened to you? You’ve got some of your hair back?” she asked in astonishment. The engineer didn’t dare say what had happened and just joked it away with magic words like “abracadabra.”

What had happened? The Bible speaks of “wonders and signs.” God wanted to show him a sign of His sovereignty and omnipotence. The engineer received help for something he had not asked for or had faith in. Jesus turned water into wine, walked on the sea, and cursed a fig tree that soon after withered. These were signs He performed to show His greatness and power. Sometimes God heals out of His love for the sick; other times, He performs signs to make us wonder, to awaken us to faith.
