National Team Coach Ståle Solbakken should take the main credit for the feat.
When negative results have screamed at him and some wanted him removed, he (according to himself) put on earplugs and focused on being wise, tactical, and making the best of the team and opportunities he has — without caring about the cries from bullies and the screaming choir. We Christians should work in the same way. Preach the gospel “in season and out of season,” be tactical and wise, and thank God for every little progress. We must always keep the main goal clear: The salvation of souls, one by one, until the revival comes and the great victory is a fact.
As Christians, we are in a war. The screaming choir usually comes from those who do the least and who sit on the fence and criticize the officers. A war cannot be won by soldiers sitting on the fence and criticizing the few officers who are out in the field. In a war, it's the soldiers who fight and are at the front. Leaders lay out the strategy. Then the great victory comes in the end. From our standpoint in Norway, it's not about giving up, but how we can do better — until the great victory, the revival comes. Then we continue with the “one by one strategy”!
At the end of the day, it is the Holy Spirit who is the strategist. We follow the Spirit's guidance and not our own. By His power, we shall be “more than conquerors.” The gospel is the message of the world’s greatest victory. Thanks to this message, our victory will be much greater than that at Ullevaal. Of course, we rejoice over it and celebrate Ståle Solbakken and the super-talented players! But we have bigger goals for our faith: Eternal life for thousands!! Then 90 minutes at Ullevaal are just “trivial matters”.
