A claim does not become true just because many assert it. It can lead to majority tyranny. Therefore, the truth needs a secure anchoring in God's word. The truth cannot die. It always wins – in the long run. 

Jesus said:

"Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth."

John 17:17 (NKJV)

Through many tough battles, I have learned a golden rule: What is true in the light is also true when it darkens. When it is pitch dark around you and emotions pull hard at you, it is not easy to think clearly. Then it may be wise to listen to advice from someone who stands next to you, who sees things from a neutral ground, those who "are in the light". For what is true in the light is also true when it darkens. 

Let the truth govern your life – your thoughts, feelings, and choices. "Your word is truth."
