Healing for our whole being

Jesus did not come just to "save souls" (Greek way of thinking). He came to save us wholly, spirit, soul, and body (Hebraic way of thinking). God has a salvation plan for all of us. Jesus emphasizes this in his mission statement:

"The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed."

Luke 4:18 (NKJV)

Here, Jesus speaks first generally about people in need ("poor"), then deliverance of "captives" (captives of sin, spiritual healing, salvation), physical healing ("blind" recovering their sight). Finally, Jesus mentions healing of "oppressed". This points to inner healing, various nervous disorders, and deliverance from possession.

A young woman of 17 had previously suffered abuse and was mentally broken. She went to a psychologist for help. But she did not recover from her suffering. Her grandmother called me to pray for her without her knowing. What happened? About a week later, she suddenly discovered she was healed from the deep depression. She no longer needed to see the psychologist. God had healed her through prayer. Jesus had come to set "oppressed" free!
