Effective sighs and prayer in tongues
Our prayers can sometimes consist of a sigh without words. This is a deep, effective prayer without words, with an inward longing: Jesus "sighed" – and the deaf-mute was healed (Mark 7:34). God's Spirit understands your sighs and brings them before God's throne. And the answer to prayer comes.
Do not think negatively about your prayer life if there are days with many sighs and few words.
Prayer in tongues is also a fine way to pray, even if you do not know what you are saying. When you have difficulty finding words and do not know how to pray, you can pray in tongues. Then you allow God's Spirit to bring your needs and desires before God's throne. We can then talk about a perfect prayer. "But the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered." (Rom 8:26, NKJV) You speak "mysteries in the Spirit" (1 Cor 14:2) God understands your prayer language and comes with answers.
Speaking in tongues adds spiritual strength to us: "But you, beloved:
Build yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit."
Jude 1:20, NKJV
A preacher suggested praying for one hour in tongues daily. Then we might be able to release divine powers in our own and others' lives.
