A Proper View of Jesus' Cross
When Jesus died on the cross, God did not make Him a sinner, but made Him sin. He became the object of God's wrath and judgment for our sin.
The Bible says it this way:
“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
2 Corinthians 5:21
“Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us. For it is written, 'Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree.'”
Galatians 3:13
“Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.”
1 Peter 2:24
“He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.”
Isaiah 53:5
Thanks to Jesus' atoning death on the cross, you and I can avoid being condemned to eternal perdition because of our sins. There is a big difference in that. The Bible says:
“He who believes in Him is not condemned.”
John 3:18
This truth gives assurance in faith, certainty of salvation, and joy.
Remember: Jesus was not made a sinner, but made sin. There is a big difference in that.
