The Two Important Aspects of Pentecost
For me, Pentecost means two things:
1. The Church's birthday. All believers were in a mysterious way made into one body in Christ. Paul says:
“For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free, and have all been made to drink into one Spirit.”
1 Corinthians 12:13
2. Pentecost also means that all believers can receive the power of the Spirit to be a witness of the gospel through the baptism with the Holy Spirit.
Jesus said:
“For John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”
Acts 1:5
“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Acts 1:8
Let us embrace the challenge and each day strive to witness to at least one person – in the power of the Holy Spirit.
