Effective prayer, a prayer that God answers, is “fervent prayer” – prayer from the depths of our heart, driven by a need. It freed Peter from prison: 

“Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church” (Acts 12:5). God responded by sending an angel to the prison in Jerusalem to set him free: “And his chains fell off his hands.”

What is the “quality” of our prayer? Is it true, genuine, and does it come from a fervent need, steeped in distress for ourselves and others? Such prayers break chains and bonds. And open prison doors.
